Guadalupe Orozco-Gutierrez is a ceramist, writer, and self-taught cook whose practice explores hidden messages within food and the mundane. By approaching cuisine with playful and inedible ingredients, Orozco manages to disintegrate complexities often overlooked within our daily subsistence. Primarily through clay, but also through other mediums such as plaster, drawing, welding, and writing, Orozco recreates abstract, enlarged, and fantasy-like versions of everyday things. Through the indulgence of rediscovering these objects under unusual means such as inversion or make-belief their work aims to consciously find subdued emotions, memories, and ideas from within the realm of their unconscious; bringing them to the forefront through a playful childlike lens.

Guadalupe Orozco-Gutierrez was born in 2002 in San Bernardino, California. In 2024, they received their BA in Art Practice and Creative Writing at the University of California, Berkeley. Orozco has already been included in various important exhibitions including Art Practice Pop-up at Anthropology and Art Practice Building, UC Berkeley, Berkeley, CA, and YWCA Berkeley/Oakland’s Second Annual Vintage Artisan Bazaar, YWCA, Berkeley, CA. Upcoming shows include the 2024 Senior Thesis Exhibition, Worth Ryder Art Gallery, University of California, Berkeley, Berkeley CA. Orozco currently lives and works in Berkeley, CA.
